Images from Woodward’s hat collection. There’s no explanation as to why these catalogue images are preserved in the COV archive, as opposed to say socks, canned goods, or gardening tools. For whatever reason, these hats have withstood the test of time, fossilized as a delightful bit of vaselined memory from Woodward’s. More than anything, these particular hat images were selected because of expressions on the faces of the four hat models: a look of sympathetic concern, dreamy whistfulness, distant interest and non-committal admiration.
